The Swedish School was founded in 1989 and we meet on Saturdays between 10.00 and 11.30.
The school follows the Swedish Education Administration’s curriculum for complementary Swedish, which means that our organization receives a certain amount of funding for our work from them (www.skolverket.se). We are also members of SUF - Svenska utlandsskolornas förening (www.suf.se). The Swedish School Society is a parent’s organisation i.e. we are run by parent volunteers. Our board members are as follows:
Chairman: Nina Messer
Secretary: Anna Varey
Bursar: Marie Sheppard
Edmissions: Lina Yeats
Baby and toddler representative: Jenny Almberg
Member: Cecilia Male
Member: Anna Enander
Member: Tobias Broadley - Karlsson
Head teacher: Pia Samuelsson
The school is a meeting place for all of our members with a fantastic network of friendly parents that we hope you will want to join.
We want the children to:
Enjoy speaking Swedish and meeting other children who speak Swedish
Improve their Swedish written and verbal communications.
Develop awareness of Swedish culture and Swedish traditions.
Use what they already know, but also learn new words and expressions that they might not come across in everyday life.
